New Swift Water Boat Tow Vehicle Goes Into Service
(Left to Right) Great Falls VFD Chief Frank Smith, Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust, Past President of the Great Falls Newcomers
Donna Mastran, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Station Commander Mark Feaster and Great Falls VFD President Jerry Smith.
The Great Falls VFD is proud to announce that our new swift water tow vehicle, Utility 412, is now in service. The 2008 Ford Explorer was recently purchased and outfitted to haul one of the two boats that are housed at Station 12. The funds used to purchase the vehicle were generously donated by the Great Falls Newcomers and by donations we received as a result of our annual fund drive letter. The new Explorer replaces our Jeep Wrangler which will still be used for community standby events. The Great Falls VFD thanks the Newcomers and the members of our community for their very generous contributions.
Fourth of July Blood Drive- UPDATE
The Fourth of July blood drive hosted by the Great Falls VFD with INOVA Blood Services was a huge success. 103 units of blood were donated by members of our community. We look forward to making the blood drive part of the Fourth of July tradition in Great Falls. Thanks again to all of those who took the time to help save a life.
Congratulations to Volunteer Firefighter Lee Martin and EMT-P Frank Smith
Volunteer Lee Martin recently graduated from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Training Division’s fire school class 2012 and is now a Firefighter II. Chief Frank Smith successfully completed his EMT-P national registry exam in January of this year. Both of these volunteers spent hundreds of hours over the course of several months to acquire these challenging accreditations. Congratulations to Lee and Frank!
Security Gate Combinations Needed
In the event of an emergency, fire and rescue personnel need to be able to access your home as quickly as possible. If you have a security gate at the entrance to your driveway, we would like to have a record of your combination or verify that you have a rapid entry key installed on the gate. Please call the station at (703)759-2300 to provide us with this information. Thank you, your help is appreciated.
